Joint Stock Company "Kazakh University of Technology and Business" was established on June 12, 2003 on the basis of a branch of the Almaty University of Technology and Business in Astana. Since the 2003-2004 academic year, it has been operating as an independent university, referred to as the Akmola University of Technology and Business.
On March 26, 2008, it was renamed the Kazakh University of Technology and Business (hereinafter KazUTB), which is the only specialized higher educational institution in Astana and the Akmola region to train competitive personnel for the food, light, petrochemical and hospitality industries.
The University carries out educational activities according to the state license of the AB series No. 0064024 in the field of higher and postgraduate education without limitation of validity, issued by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 16.07.2008.
KazUTB conducts scientific activities on the basis of a Certificate of accreditation as a subject of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities (MK Series No. 003978, dated April 9, 2014) issued by the Committee for control in the field of education and Science. The certificate is provided for participation in the competition of scientific and scientific-technical activities at the expense of the state budget of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since 2011, the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system has been implemented based on the results of the certification of "KazSert" ST RK. A unified information management system of the university has been established; innovative technologies and active teaching methods, including distance learning technology, are used in the educational process. There is a system of internal quality control of education and the qualitative composition of teaching staff.
The university has a multi-level system of training specialists: technical and vocational education (college), higher education (bachelor's degree), postgraduate education (master's degree).
More than 10 thousand cadres have left the walls of the university; university students show good performance not only in mastering academic achievements, but also actively participate in various competitions, as well as in the political life of the capital. For example: The team of "Astana Zhasalgan" became finalists of the Republican Regional League.
Currently, another team "Astana arulars" has been formed, which have passed the qualifying round and passed to the final game "Zhaydarman". In November 2013, an image group was created from among the students of the university, which developed a collection of designer costumes.
A 2nd-year student of the specialty "Design" Beknazar Aknur was elected to the city deputies, students of the specialties "Ecology" Suyndikzy Albina and "State and local administration" Satysheva Aikumis were elected to the deputies of the Saryarkinsky district.Mandates and certificates of deputies of the city and district maslikhats were handed over.
KazUTB's academic activities are aimed at training personnel for the light, food and oil industries, services and information technology.
The main results of academic activity received external evaluation in the following bodies:
- 1. The University has passed the State certification for the right to conduct educational activities for a period of 5 years (Order of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 06. 05. 2015 No. 821).
- 2. The University participates in the annual national ranking of universities conducted by the Independent Kazakhstan Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating. In 2015, KazUTB took a stable 14th (ссылка ) position among 16 technical universities and 36th place among 40 universities in the overall ranking (слайд).
- 3. Specialty 5B091200 «Restaurant business and hotel business» since 2013 occupies a stable 2nd place among the educational programs of this direction (ссылка ) .
- 4. In 2011, the University approved a project in urban architecture and began construction of an educational campus located south of the Korgalzhinsky highway in Astana. The construction of the complex is divided into 4 stages: an educational and administrative building, a dormitory, an academic building No. 2, as well as a building including a library, an assembly hall, a cafe-dining room and a gym. Currently, the first stage of construction has been completed and work is underway to put the administrative building into operation with an area of 24457.4 m2.
- 5. The University is intensively working on the implementation of the Action Plan within the framework of the State Program for the Development of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011-2020 (Stage I), regularly providing operational reporting to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- The scientific and educational activity of the university was marked by letters of thanks from the Akimat of Astana, enterprises – partners, as well as for the active participation of university students in city events.
