The modern music and drama theater is not only a world of music and acting, but also a space where costume design and scenic design play an important role. One of those who plays this invaluable role on stage is a fashion designer, designer of hats and stage costumes.

On March 13, 2025, as part of the week of the Department of Technology of Light Industry and Design, a meeting was held with Raikhan Shaimerdenovna Kusainova, a fashion designer, designer of hats and stage costumes at the K. Kuanyshbayev National Musical and Drama Theater. The topic of the guest lecture is "The role of hats and costumes in creating an image: from historical eras to modern trends." It should be noted that Raikhan Shaimerdenovna is a graduate of our university, graduated from the Kazakh University of Technology and Business in 2007, and qualified as a fashion designer.

During the meeting, the designer shared her experience in creating hats for stage costumes and demonstrated material about the history of the origin of stage hats. According to Raikhan Shaimerdenovna, the development process begins with a deep analysis of the character and the staging. Every element — from fabrics to the smallest details — not only serves decorative purposes, but also helps to convey the character and state of the hero. "My approach is always based on what role the character plays, what emotions he experiences on stage," the designer noted and added that creating these costume elements requires only manual labor.

At the end of the meeting, the head of the department, Bayzhanova Zh.B., on behalf of the rector of KazUTB named after K. Kulazhanov, Baybolova L.K., presented a letter of thanks, expressed great gratitude for the unforgettable master class, high professionalism, and the most interesting presentation of various methods of processing hats.
